29 years ago this month, I was 14 years old, and attended my first rock concert. It was at the Coliseum and it was "festival" seating. I am too embarrassed to name the band I saw (hint Judas Priest warmed-up). However, at that age I also read the newspaper every day. I saved a few clippings from what I considered significant headlines that year. A few months after my first concert, the Who came to town. Here is the first in a series of my 1979-1980 newspaper clippings:

My cousin Jamie (Warmouth) died at this concert.
I knew many people who went, and they had no idea that this happened until afterwards.
Hmm, so Judas Priest was warming up for??? Iron Maiden? If so, that must have been an awesome freaking first concert!
Ah, Cincinnati in its glory years...
I was at that concert along side with some who perished. In the past 30 years I have met no one who "didn't care". The concert goers and the people of Cincinnati were deeply affected by the tragedy. Before this concert I was so happy. I loved my rock n Roll and loved live shows. It would be 15 years before I attended another show. Something fundamentally was changed in me that horrible night.
Judas Priest opened for KISS on September 14, 1979.
