Hard to tell what you heard. Competition speed shooters can get up around 8 rounds per second (this guy did it with a revolver), semi-automatic handguns can do up to 12. But I doubt a championship shooter was practicing in OTR.
Submachine guns and machine pistols typically do 1000 rounds per minute, which is around 15 shots per second. Some are regulated down to 10 per second. That is considered the fastest one can shoot and still keep the gun on target.
The problem is it's almost impossible to count 10 rounds per second. And fully automatic weapons are extremely rare, even among mobsters. That's one area where our guns laws have been effective.
A semi-auto in each hand, with alternating trigger-pulls, can sound very fast, similar to full-auto fire, but usually the cadence is slightly out of rhythm. Little pocket guns like .32's .380's usually hold 5 rounds each. Full size handguns hold 10-15, unless you get special extended magazines.
When a gun is sold, the potential buyer often test fires it. This sort of transaction is heard periodically around OTR and downtown.
With Halloween and New Year's Eve approaching, it's always a smart idea to mentally inventory locations in your neighborhood that provide defilade. Cincinnati is known for gunfire as a form of holiday celebration. Like Baghdad, but without that comforting U.S. military presence.
It's too bad Cawdry hasn't rented that commercial space yet.
Mark; My guess is that it was a fully automatic handgun of some type. I could not actually count the shots, I was just guessing. It just sounded like a fast outburst. I saw a group of teens walking away from where the sound came from, and I think they did it. That's all I have...
The goal of this blog is to generate friendships and share information regarding the promotion and retention of families in the urban center of Cincinnati.

Indeed. Speaking of simulated bulletholes...
Yeah, whats up with that? Did you hear that last night, about 11:30?
I actually heard two rounds last night. I think the first was earlier than 11:30.
Yeah, maybe 11:20, but it sounded like 10 shots in one second, something I don't remember hearing before.
did you call the cops?
no

Any of this starting to fit?

We need to get you a telephoto camera lens for Christmas. Staple an 8x10 to your report, send it to Crimestoppers, and end this once and for all.
We may need to cut some trees down too so I get a clear view.
