Arrgh, you beat me to the punch! I just noticed this ghost sign last week and hadn't had a chance to post something about it. It's a nice find!

It took me a while to figure out what it said. Then I googled Lackman's and it came up with "beer without peer".

Beauty - I can't believe I missed that. "Lackman" - doesn't sound so German?

I had never heard of Lackman. I just googled it again, and found this quote:
"1934, Hudepohl Brewing Company purchases the Lackman Brewery on Fifth near Baymiller and operate it as Plant #2."

My name is Scott Lackman, Jr, the great Grandson of Herman Lackman, owner of the Lackman Brewery. I am looking for any information about the brewery.

Welcome Scott; I had never heard of Lackman Brewery until I saw this sign. I just looked in the book "Over the Barrel" and they have quite a bit of info about it. They have quite a bit of info on Herman Lackman:
"..few local brewers matched the level of (philanthropic) activity of Herman Lackman, who served as a trustee and president of the board of the German Protestant Orphans' Asylum, was a trustee of the German Widows' Houme, and represented the fifteenth ward on the Cincinnati Board of Education."

There is much more. I would recommend buying the book if you don't have it. It was written by Timothy Holian, and should be available at local bookstores, and maybe even Amazon.

Scott - there are several homes in Glendale, OH that members of the Lackman's lived in. You may want to ck the Glendale Historical Society which is housed in the old train station for more info. One is on Fountain Ave (Herman), and one is now on Woodbine (Albert - Herman's son). The house on Woodbine was moved from 800 Ivy Avenue in 1926-1927.
