China Moving Fast on Trains

China plans to build 42 new high-speed rail lines over the next 3 years. By 2012 it will have added 13,000 km of high-speed rail line. It also claims to have developed trains which can run on regular and high speed rail track.

It's embarassing for the United States. Northern Africa will most likely have true high speed rail before the U.S. The rest of the world gets it, and we're finally starting to push preliminary funds towards the development of such a system. We're way behind.
