Thirteenth Street Before

The Southeast corner of 13th and Republic in the mid 1990s. This was a very rough corner, and dangerous with several handgun murders etc:

A close-up of rear wall of 1235 Vine, showing the brick wall nearing collapse:

Today:
From left to right: Rear of 1237 Vine (now Lackman Lofts), 1235 and 1233 Vine (now housing owned by OTR Community Housing), 1222 Republic (now Mottainai lofts):

** UPDATE ** UPDATE ** UPDATE **
A commenter asked for more info on the building in the left background of the first photo. I posted before and after photos of that building last year:

So weird to look at those windows and know that they're now my bedroom windows. I love seeing old pictures of these buildings when they were ruined. What I'd also really love would be pictures of them before they were ruined and made nice again.

^It is hard to find the real old photos of specific buildings, especially of the backs and sidestreets like this.

This is a simple but powerful post.

These are fantastic. If you don't mind I'm going to stitch the two together for a single image.

There was probably a building or buildings where the lot in the fore ground is now, way back before they were ruined. The backs may not have been visible. Hopefully there will be lots more of these kinds of photos as things in OTR get better and better.

I'm interested in the top photo. There is a building in the background on the left side of the photo, I'm assuming that is 14th st. Is there anyway you could take a photo of that area and post? That would be the north west corner of 14th. It was a massive apartment building in the 60s and 70s.
