Building Laying Down

You've probably seen this already, but it is so fascinating to me, I just had to comment. Somehow a building was built in China with poor foundations on quicksand like soil, and tipped over like a domino while still under construction. The layers of safety, permits, engineering reports, insurance requirements and special required inspections guarantee that nothing this flimsy could ever be built in this country:

What's facinating is the building actually held together as it fell over! How would you like to be living in a building built by the same builder?

That's absolutely incredible.

Makes you wonder about the other two buildings in the same complex there.

It reminds me of a book from my childhood, "Sideways Stories from Wayside School." Of course, in that story they took a long single-story building and accidentally built it on its end... this would be just the opposite.

Thank goodness these weren't closer together, since it could have really been a domino effect.

Ok, so the geotech engineer is in deep #@%^. But the whoever designed the above ground portion is about to be in serious demand.

How does that thing not crush itself?
