90th Opening Day Parade Monday

Since 1919, the grassroots Findlay Market Boosters have sponsored a Reds Opening Day Parade. Over the years baseball has started earlier and earlier, which means that we have a 50/50 chance of bad weather. The forecast for this Monday show a possibility of snow. Despite this, it seems to grow every year. It is a great parade, and a great Cincinnati tradition.

This year, Frank Robinson, who hit a record eight homeruns on Opening Days, including his first at-bat for the Reds, will be the Grand Marshall.

I hope everyone can attend. If you can, please stop by and see us at our usual spot on Race Street along the route. The parade apparently starts earlier than usual at 10:30. My kids will be skipping school as will many others. Heck, many of them will be marching in bands. CPS should make this a holiday. They already have several random days off for "teacher in-service", why can't one of them be the first Monday in April?

It should be a holiday like Brooklyn Day. I'll be there with bells on!
