Lantern Walk Obama at UC
We just returned from the Clifton Lantern Walk and on the way back we saw the line going into Nippert Stadium to see Obama. The line zigzagged all through campus past Morgan and Scioto Hall down MLK, back into campus around the Business School, then back out and up MLK to Clifton and all the way up Clifton Avenue. That is a line at least a mile long. There is no way all those people will be able to get into the stadium.

I don't know, Nippert's changed a lot since we were there. It now seats 35,097 people.
Forgive my engineeringness, but I mapped the route you describe (up Clifton to Calhoun) and it's 1.35807 miles. If each person occupies 3 linear feet, that's only 2,390 people in line. Security might be tedious, but they'll all fit.
Wow, I had no idea it could fit that many, however, the line was about 5-6 people wide. My guess is that the line was the equivalent of going totally around the campus 1.5 times ...and more people were coming.
Yeah, these lines are never single file as people usually go in groups and mingle as they're waiting in line. Nippert seats around 35,000 with some of the seats being blocked out. With that though the field will be open up for people as well. I would expect the total capacity for tonight's rally to be around 45,000. I'm sure it will be packed to the gills as just about any event with Obama in attendance is.
They said on Channel 9 live feed, 47,000.
The Enquirer says:
"The Obama campaign estimated the crowd at 27,000"
It looked like everyone who wanted to get in got in. By the time Obama spoke, the crowd had settled in. I've got some pictures posted at my blog- morristsai.com
We were one of the first people in, we walked in from Corry right about 6 and just followed people in. The ones around us talked of standing in line for 3 1/2 hours.
The stadium was half full if that, I'm thinking there were 15k at most in there.
They mostly packed people in where the cameras would see them, it was probably impressive on TV, in person? not so much.
