post from the voting line

I've been voting at the same polling location for 19 years, and I've never missed an election. During all that time I have never had to wait behind more than one or two people. Today the line goes outnthe door and down the sidewalk. People in OTR are turning out li like never before. Comments by those in line are along the linesnof "this is a beautiful day", and it is!

I voted four weeks ago, so I feel a little left out today. The only downside to early voting! Might have to run by just to take a look!

Up in Mt Auburn, my wife had a 1/2 hour wait at 6:45 am which is unprecedented for us, but I just got back and had no wait.

I guess what suprised me is that our precinct, which is around Washington Park, has a lot of vacancies right now, so I was thinking the hype would not translate into big turnout like it might in other districts. My total waiting in line and voting was 50 minutes, 7am-7:50, but the line was getting shorter as I left. They were apparently short two pole workers for the first hour and a half.
