There's nothing like waking up to snow to get the kids in a good mood. We're trying to decide if we should sled, skate or just play in it. Have fun today everyone!

Two Notable Events This Weekend

Seminary Square Christmas Walk in Covington and Carolfest at Music Hall. I missed both of these events last year, but plan on making both this weekend:

 

Covington, KY-The Old Seminary Square Neighborhood Association will celebrate the holiday season by hosting a Christmas Walk Sunday from 5-8 p.m. Ten homes will be fully decorated in holiday fashion. Visit the homes and enjoy refreshments and holiday music. Old Seminary Square encompasses Russell Street North to South, 8th Street to 12th Street and East to West, the railroad to Bracken Court.

"Our historic neighborhood is so lovely at Christmastime and we want to share that with the community," said event organizer Linda Carter. "We are eager to open our homes so that others can enjoy the beauty and the flavor of the holiday season."

Directions: I-75, exit on 12th Street (exit 191), East on 12th, left on Russell. Left on Robbins Street to school parking lot.

Carolfest Saturday at 1pm and 4pm. $10 for adults, $5 for kids, at Music Hall.

Buildings on the south side of Elder just demolished for the new HUB Center. Most of the buildings on the north side of the street are still there today, although altered. The vacant building on the right with a attached one-story building was sandblasted by Hart Realty soon after this photo:

Broken Windows Theory Tested

Some Dutch guys set up experiments to test the Broken Windows theory and found it to be true.

The researchers’ conclusion is that one example of disorder, like graffiti or littering, can indeed encourage another, like stealing. Dr Kelling was right. The message for policymakers and police officers is that clearing up graffiti or littering promptly could help fight the spread of crime.
