To fit into cities... It would shrink its stores to as small as 8,000 square feet, about 4 percent of the size of an average supercenter. It is considering formats that are primarily groceries, stores where customers can order something online and pick it up, stores where local business owners can lease space, and even formats like bodegas.

Even the city isn't safe...
In a recent Zogby poll, conservatives preferred WalMart over Target 2-1 while liberals preferred Target over WalMart 4-1.
Independents lightly favored Target.
Quimbob - I agree, you can see it in each stores marketing. Think about the ads you see for each store - very telling.
People shop at Wal-mart for one thing, to save money above everything else, jobs, lives, the environment.
People shop at Target to get a little design for their money.
I've never been in a Wal-mart because of all the negative politics surrounding them, the view on women for example.
