Those problems are there only beacuse CPS has spent nothing on maintenance at the old building for decades. DECADES. There hasn't even been a paint can craked open since I went to school there 20 years ago. Transfer that same maintenance budget to the new building with its inferior materials and 21st century architect's details and how long do you think it will last? I am obviously biased on the whole issue, but check back in 5 or 10 years and tell me how nice it is then. I just did a conditions report on a 15 story building built in 2001 that now needs a completely new facade at great expense to the taxpayer. They REALLY don't build 'em like they used to.
MattAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6782792124434572025.post-74754752586018309892009-12-17T15:20:33.920-05:002009-12-17T15:20:33.920-05:00If they're not destined to be here very long, ...If they're not destined to be here very long, we might as well have some fun with them.

Somebody (cough, CityKin, cough) needs to screw an eyelet into the top of that one in the foreground and attach a tetherball to it.

With a nicely lit pole, kids and parents could play all night.Mark Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15155390616574310800noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6782792124434572025.post-8375911799861078482009-12-17T12:46:46.016-05:002009-12-17T12:46:46.016-05:00Those lights will be the first thing to deteriorat...Those lights will be the first thing to deteriorate. its blight i tell you.

JFVAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6782792124434572025.post-23554501084511734262009-12-17T10:23:23.876-05:002009-12-17T10:23:23.876-05:00The building turns its back on the neighborhood, w...The building turns its back on the neighborhood, when Washington Park and two performance spaces could be its front yard.VisuaLingualhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05940655509018040523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6782792124434572025.post-28297961882112724002009-12-17T10:15:19.662-05:002009-12-17T10:15:19.662-05:00Still steaming about the parking lot on the Washin...Still steaming about the parking lot on the Washington Park side.
