Sidewalk Gas Pumps

This photo is of a common gas pump configuration found in some European cities. Compare this to the typical gas station which is hazardous to pedestrians.

 


 


I got this photo off of an email listserve last year and I cannot remember who took the photo or even what city it was taken in.

    I didn't see anything like this in Germany. The gas stations were similar to what you would see back in the States. Maybe this in France?

    Very interesting, I'm surprised to see stuff like this still installed. Such sidewalk gas pumps used to be VERY common here in the US before WWII. It's an interesting, and surprisingly civilized, way to integrate a gas station with an urban corner store. My main question is, where does the storage tank go?
