Quimbob, I can say for a fact it was definitely gone by 1981, which is when I started working in OTR. I had no idea there was ever a church at that corner until tonight.
CPS and/or the design firm has the opportunity to make or break this focal point at the Northern end of Main Street when they fix-up Rothenberg. Lets hope for the best
I just stumbled upon this four years late. The church served as a Boys Club for a time in the early to mid-1950s. I know that for a fact because I used to spend my free time there as a kid. I was a member from when I was five until I turned seven, and my family moved from the neighborhood. I have many fond memories of the church, and all of the activities that went on in there.

This building lasted into the 1970s. Its steeple had been replaced with a cupola and, if I remember, a rooster on top of that.
ReplyDeleteLike many European cities, Cincinnati is saddled with many more churches than can be supported by believers.
that is great! Know when it was torn down? Found a reference to it having a minister in 83. I want to say I remember something there but I don't know.

ReplyDeleteBased on what else I've seen from CPS, I wouldn't hold my breath on them taking any advantage of the opportunity there.
