Overheard Tonight

Man: "Go away, your drunk!"

Woman: "I ain't drunk. I ain't never been drunk. ...I like to get intoxicated, but I ain't never been drunk."

    Overheard from the drunkards' rooming house in the 1300 block of Broadway in 1973.

    "I ain't one of them alcoholics. I'm a drunk. I don't go to them meetings"

    Not an urban legend. True.
